Asmodus, an ancient demon and enemy of the Spectre, wakes up after the spell that was placed on Corrigan is broken in the first film.Or a scene where Phantom Stranger visits Jason Blood/Etrigan to set up a spinoff movie. Post-credit scene: a bunch of magical DC characters have a meeting to discuss the Spectre’s reawakening. The Spectre will be integral in an upcoming war and that “we tried unsuccessfully for 20 years to wake him up” confirming Corrigan could have freed himself anytime but some part of him wanted to continue living in willful ignorance. She rationalizes away the collateral damage and thousands who died, explaining she saw a vision of the future. Madame Xanadu is later visited by the Phantom Stranger where it is revealed she orchestrated events allowing Eclipso to be unleashed back into the world knowing it would force the Spectre to return. ![]() After Spectre defeats Eclipso, Corrigan breaks up with his girlfriend and takes a leave of absence from the police department. Spectre and Eclipso engage in a battle in the sky spanning across the world, also exposing his existence to the world. Realizing the Spectre is the only being capable of combating Eclipso, Corrigan reclaims his memories and fully becomes the Spectre again. Having once destroyed the world by water, Eclipso attempts to this time incinerate the world by fire. Eclipso eventually grew corrupt, became a fallen angel, and was locked away.
